Access and Use of the Service Cult, Inc. ("us", "we", or "our") operates the mobile device application Cult (the "App") and https://cult.app (the
"Site"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information
we receive from users of the Site. We use your Personal Information only for providing and improving the App. By
using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information Collection And Use When you use our services, we collect information about which of those services you’ve used and how you’ve used
them.
- Personal Information. To create an account on Cult, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally
identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include,
but is not limited to your name, email, and phone number.
- Content Information. We collect information about the content you provide, such as if the recipient has
viewed the content and the metadata that is provided with the content.
- Device Phonebook. Because our services are all about communicating with friends, we may -- with your permission
-- collect information from your device’s phonebook to sync friends automatically, offer friend suggestions, and simplify
sending friend invites (via SMS).
- Camera and Photos. We need access to your phone's camera and/or photos in order to share with your friends
on Cult.
- Face and Body Tracking (TrueDepth, ARKit, ARCore). Our App uses device camera APIs including TrueDepth, ARKit, and ARCore
to enable augmented reality features and real-time animation. These technologies collect facial geometry data to detect facial
movements and expressions, and may collect body pose data to detect body movements and gestures. This data is used solely for
animating avatars and providing interactive AR experiences within the App. Face and body data are processed in real-time on your
device and transmitted transiently during active sessions. Except as described in the Biometric Data section below, we do not
store, save, or retain any face or body data on our servers. Face and body data are never used for advertising, marketing, or
shared with third parties. Face and body data used for these AR features are processed locally on your device and immediately
discarded after use.
- Location Information. When using our services, we may collect information about your location. With your
consent, we may also collect information about your precise location using methods that include GPS, wireless networks,
cell towers, Wi-Fi access points, and other sensors, such as gyroscopes, accelerometers, and compasses.
To keep the App a network of real, trusted people, everyone completes a quick face check when they sign up. Here's
exactly what happens:
- What we collect. We keep 2–3 cropped photos of your face and their depth data (a 3D map of your face)
from this check. They're stored on our servers.
- What we do with it. We analyze them on our servers to estimate your age and to create a face template
— a code we use to confirm your profile photos are really you.
- Improving safety. With your consent, we also use these images to improve our age-safety system.
- What we never do. Your face data is never sold, never shared, and never used for ads.
- How long we keep it. It's deleted when you delete your account, or after 18 months — whichever comes
first.
Like many site operators, we collect information that your app sends whenever you enter our App ("Log Data"). This
Log Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, browser
version, the screens of our App that you navigate, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages,
and other statistics. The collection of this data is primarily to improve the user experience, and also to ensure
stability and reliability of the App.
We use automated tools, including third-party AI services, to moderate user-generated content. Only the content of
submitted responses is processed for classification and filtering purposes; no names, usernames, contact
information, device identifiers, or other personal identifiers are sent as part of this moderation. The sole
purpose of this processing is to prevent harmful or unsafe content from being displayed.
The security of your Personal Information is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the
Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to
protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Changes To This Privacy Policy This Privacy Policy is effective as of July 1, 2023 and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in
its provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page. We reserve the
right to update or change our Privacy Policy at any time and you should check this Privacy Policy periodically. Your
continued use of the Service after we post any modifications to the Privacy Policy on this page will constitute your
acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy. If we

provided us, or by placing a prominent notice on our website.
